Varun Chugh calls setting up of IITs in every state a great idea. He says that new IITs are needed to produce top class engineering talent necessary for the next phase of India's growth. This according to  him is the same reasoning that justified the first few IITs. With billion people in India, why restrict good engineering education to a few students only? IITs in 1960s were not well established but that has changed over the decades. The new institutes will also go through that phase, says Varun. But the entrance process is critical to get the right students and the right faculty. They will be the two main pillars that will make or break the new IITs
